Plan for ammunition

Ammunition is always additional. Bring suitable factory-loaded ammunition for your own or a provided firearm, or buy from Texas Guns at our student wholesale pricing. Buying from us is optional.

For later lessons, provided-firearm use is an additional $50–$75, depending on the firearm. Confirm the charge in advance.

How much ammunition? Plan to have approximately 500 rounds per student available. This is a planning amount, not a firing quota. Actual use follows your pace, comfort, and safe participation. Confirm the correct ammunition type before buying it, especially if you will use a provided firearm.

What your first lesson feels like

  1. We find your starting point. Tell us what you have tried, what feels unfamiliar, and what you want to learn. No experience or special vocabulary is required.
  2. We review safety together. Your instructor explains range rules, directions, and how to stop and ask for help. Paperwork is checked before training begins.
  3. You learn by doing. After the safety briefing, we move into supervised range practice when you are ready. Explanations and adjustments happen during the lesson, with your comfort and readiness guiding the pace.
  4. You leave with a next step. We review your progress, provide class notes, and discuss what would help in a later session. There is no commitment to buy a package.

Discover what you did not know to ask.

Instruction may explore familiarity with the firearm, sight and target awareness, and understanding recoil and follow-up shots. We build on your starting point so new concepts feel manageable. Asking questions, pausing, and requesting another explanation are part of learning.

Where and when

Impact Zone Gun Club
10878 Kerr Road, Hempstead, TX 77445

First lessons are scheduled for the second Sunday of each month, with starts at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and 1 p.m., Central Time. Arrive 15 minutes early. Confirm the exact range meeting point before traveling.

First-lesson appointments require full payment and booking at least 72 hours before the start. Choose an available appointment on the website. If no dates are listed, contact us; an inquiry does not reserve a place. All follow-up appointments are arranged directly with Troy.

Learning together: students aged 16 and 17

Our minimum age is 16. A parent or legal guardian must enroll, participate in the same lesson, and remain present throughout. The first shared lesson is $250 total for at least two hours. Both participants complete their own student paperwork; the parent or guardian also completes the minor consent.

This is one shared reservation: both participants attend or reschedule together under the same notice rules. A guardian cannot simply drop off the student. Ask before bringing any additional participant or observer.

Your student forms

The experience assessment helps us teach you; it is not a test. Complete page one and leave the instructor section for us.

Experience assessment (fillable PDF)Student agreement & minor consent (PDF)

Download the forms, complete the assessment, and print and sign your agreement, including every applicable initials line. Bring your completed paperwork. Each participant needs their own forms. The instructor verifies all required signatures, initials, parental consent, and any separate range or liability waivers before training begins.

If your browser does not save assessment entries, download the file and open it in a PDF reader. Need help completing the forms? Contact us before your appointment.

A few common questions

Do I need experience or my own firearm?

No. Beginners are welcome, and use of a provided firearm is included in the first lesson. Tell us in advance if you need one so we can confirm arrangements and the correct ammunition.

What should I bring?

Bring your completed student forms, any firearm and suitable factory-loaded ammunition arranged for your lesson, and your questions. We provide eye and hearing protection at no charge. Ask ahead about identification, clothing, footwear, access needs, and the exact meeting point. Follow the range's directions for transporting and presenting equipment.

What if I feel nervous or need a break?

Tell us. We can slow down, pause, or explain something again. You do not need to put medical details in your inquiry or experience assessment; ask for a private conversation about any assistance you need.

Will I receive notes afterward?

Yes. Class notes are provided after the session for review and practice as directed by your instructor.

Private training policies

These terms apply to the private lessons and four-lesson packages described on this page. Read them before paying. Your student agreement includes separate initials beside the key policies.

Payment, rescheduling, and cancellation

All lessons must be paid in full before the appointment. Email notices to pewpew@texasgunsinc.com. Notice is measured from receipt of your email to the scheduled start, in Central Time.

Notice before the startWhat happens
72 hours or moreReschedule without a fee. First-lesson cancellation receives rescheduling credit only; no cash refund.
48 to less than 72 hours$75 rescheduling fee per appointment. For a shared parent-and-teen appointment, this is one $75 fee total. First-lesson cancellation receives credit only, with no cash refund; the fee is due when rebooking and the original credit expiration applies.
24 to less than 48 hoursThat lesson payment is forfeited. This is not a no-show.
Less than 24 hoursThat lesson payment is forfeited and the appointment counts as a no-show.

For a prepaid package, a forfeited session uses one lesson credit; there is no additional $125 lesson penalty.

Late arrival and no-shows

Failure to attend, or arriving 15 minutes or more after the scheduled start, forfeits that lesson payment and counts as a no-show. Arriving less than 15 minutes late does not extend the original end time. The safety briefing is always required.

A no-show for the first appointment makes the student ineligible for additional lessons. Two no-shows during a four-lesson package forfeit all remaining unused lessons without a refund.

Credit, package refunds, and expiration

First-lesson rescheduling credit expires six months after the original payment date. Complete the lesson by that date; unused credit is forfeited. Rescheduling does not restart the six-month period.

Four-lesson packages are non-refundable and expire six months after purchase. Unused lessons remain available until that date, subject to the attendance and forfeiture rules. Any unused lessons are forfeited at expiration. The exact expiration date is recorded in the student agreement.

Weather, range closures, or instructor cancellation

If unsafe weather, a range closure, or an instructor cancellation prevents your lesson, you may reschedule without a fee or loss of a lesson credit. Your package or first-lesson credit expiration is extended when necessary to accommodate the replacement lesson.

Safety directions and required paperwork

Students and accompanying adults must follow instructor and range safety directions immediately. Unsafe conduct, ignoring safety commands, or refusing directions ends training for that day and forfeits that lesson payment. A package session uses one lesson credit.

If an instruction is unclear or you feel uncomfortable, stop and ask for help before continuing. The instructor may stop any activity that cannot continue safely. All required agreements, initials, signatures, and any parental consent must be complete before training begins.
